Join us for our second snailspace gathering! Snailspace is a series of outdoor experiences for those wishing to slow down and commune with nature and each other over art and tea.

This month, we're making kokedama with artist Naomi Guevara. Kokedama is a Japanese planting technique that creates a living plant without a pot; instead, the roots are wrapped in soil and encased in a ball of moss. The result is a beautiful garden fixture that can be strung up or placed in a dish, becoming both decoration and living sculpture.

Naomi will guide you through the process of forming your own moss ball, and you'll leave with a completed kokedama featuring a schefflera plant.

house mouse will provide tea - we'll have a selection of traditional chinese teas as well as herbal tea concoctions to sip on during the workshop.

No experience necessary, all skill levels welcome.

Each snailspace pairs a tea component with an art activity rooted in natural processes. February's gathering invites us to work with our hands, tend to something green, and ease into the season together.

Workshop Details:

  • Date: February 21

  • Time: 11:00am - 1:30pm

  • Location: Elysian Park (exact location will be sent to ticket holders prior to the workshop)

  • Class size: Limited to 15 participants

  • Skill level: Beginner-friendly - no experience required
