Bookbinding Workshop - November 16

$50.00
Only 1 available

with Jamiee Zhuge and Andy Cepollina

Slow down with us in this bookbinding workshop to make your own sketchbook or journal — a canvas for your dreams, reflections, and stories. We'll start by creating a cyanotype, watercolor, or lino-cut print for your covers, then dive into the meditative practice of Japanese stab binding while the covers dry. By the end, you'll have a handmade journal that's not just functional, but a piece of art you've already begun to make your own.

Please feel free to bring any items you wish to cyanotype print with.

    • A hand-bound journal or sketchbook with your choice of binding (ribbon or yarn)

    • Custom covers using cyanotype, watercolor, or lino-cut printing

    • A journal adorned with beads, string, ribbon, and other meaningful materials

    • New skills in bookbinding and printmaking

  • We'll move through the workshop in stages, letting each process inform the next:

Part 1: Cover Creation - Choose your medium (cyanotype, watercolor, or lino-cut) and create prints for your front and back covers. This is where your journal's personality begins.

Part 2: Binding - While covers dry, learn Japanese stab binding techniques. We'll go slow, make it meditative, and you'll choose ribbon or yarn to bind your pages together.

Part 3: Adornment - Finish by decorating your journal with beads, string, ribbon, and other materials. Make it truly yours.
