private Ceramic Lessons
We offer one-on-one wheel throwing and handbuilding lessons tailored to your experience level and goals. Whether you're trying clay for the first time, refining specific techniques, or looking for guidance on a personal project, we'll shape the session around what you'd like to learn.
All lessons include clay, tools, and instruction. Sessions can be structured in one of the following ways:
Beginners: Learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing or handbuilding, including essential techniques and concepts, tools, and clay knowledge, in a supportive introduction to ceramics.
Skill Building: Focus on developing specific techniques (e.g. throwing larger forms, making lidded vessels, exploring more advanced handbuilding projects, etc.)
Project-Based: Have a particular piece in mind? Bring sketches, reference photos, or an idea, and we'll guide you through creating it.
Finishing Your Work
Wheel Throwing: After your first session, we can trim your piece for you, or you can return for a second lesson to learn the trimming process (same hourly rate). If you're already comfortable trimming, you're also welcome to finish your work during Open Studio.
Glazing: We'll glaze your finished piece in the color of your choice, or you can return during Open Studio for an overview of the process and to glaze your piece yourself.
If you would like to book a private lesson, please do so at the calendar linked here.
