Bound in Blue: Cyanotype Journal Binding | January 24
with Jamiee Zhuge and Andy Cepollina
Slow down with us in this bookbinding workshop to make your own sketchbook or journal — a canvas for your dreams, reflections, and stories in the new year. This workshop will begin with creating a cyanotype print for the front and back covers of your journal. As the covers dry, we will go over the basics of Japanese stab binding and how this technique can be used to make a simple yet beautiful hand-bound book. Paper will be provided for you to fold into pages, and you can choose between ribbon and yarn to bind your book. In the final portion of the workshop, we’ll continue to explore modes of creation that encourage thoughtfulness and slowing down by adorning our journals with beads, string, ribbon, and other materials.
By the end of the workshop, you will not only have a handmade journal, but a functional piece of art upon which you’ve already begun to imprint your story, ready to accompany you through the new year and beyond.
Please feel free to bring any items you wish to print with.
